Install and sign in

  • The Locai App installer for your computer (Windows, macOS, or Linux). An administrator provides it.
  • An account on this appliance (email, password, and an authenticator app), unless you were given an enrolment code instead.
  • A computer on the same office network as the appliance. Guest Wi‑Fi, mobile hotspots, and many VPNs will not see the box.

Run the installer your organisation issued. Open Locai from the usual place (Start menu, Applications, or your Linux app list). The app may offer an update later under Settings → About.

On first launch the app looks for Locai One on the local network (“Connect to your box”).

  1. Choose the appliance from On this network if it appears. Scan again if the list is empty.
  2. If it does not appear, enter the address an administrator gave you (often the same name shown on the kiosk, such as locai-<id>.local).
  3. Recently connected remembers boxes you have used on this computer. Forget one if it should not appear again.

The app may warn about the certificate the first time. That is expected on the office network until IT has installed the appliance’s certificate on managed devices. Follow your organisation’s instructions.

There is no pairing code to find the box. An enrolment code is different: it is a one-time code from an administrator so you can set your own password.

If the title chip later says the connection was lost, use Retry, or open Settings → Connection.

The sign-in screen is Sign in to Locai.

  1. Enter your email and password. You may Remember this account on this device.
  2. Enter the one-time code from your authenticator app when asked (or a recovery code).
  3. On a Mac, a later visit may offer Sign in with Touch ID if you left a session locked on this computer.
  4. You land in chat.

Have an enrolment code? Use that path if an administrator sent a code instead of a password. Set your password (at least eight characters), then enrol the authenticator and save recovery codes when they are shown. They are shown once.

If sign-in fails, you are almost always on the wrong network, using the wrong host, or using an account that has not been created yet. Ask an administrator: they create accounts under Users in the Admin Console.

Open Settings from your account in the sidebar, or from Connected · the host name.

  • Account: who you are on this appliance. Sign out ends this session.
  • Appearance: light, dark, or match the computer.
  • Connection: which appliance you are talking to. To use another Locai One, change the connection and sign in again.
  • About: app version, and Install update when one is offered.
